Christian Ethics Lessons 5 & 6
 
1.           Jesus came as a gift from God for all humankind.
 
2.           a) Jesus taught an ethic in line with his religion.
b) He laid his primary stress on right attitudes from which would come right actions.
c) He set out a God-centred faith and love in his teaching.
d) He showed that he knew all about human sin and the possibilities of a redeemed life.
e) Jesus' teaching showed the supreme worth of every person to God.
 
3.           Jesus was opposed to the substitution of ceremonial and outward behaviour for obedience to God and love for one's neighbour.
 
4.           Jesus condemned neither tithing nor outward behaviour but wanted to see the cleansing of a person on the inside.
 
5.           The two primary qualities found in the Beatitudes are a God-centred faith and love.
 
6.           Jesus did not agree with Paul on sin being an enveloping state of evil but rather pierced the outward 'good' to reveal the real inside of a person.
 
7.           The four requirements for sin's conquest are:
a) Commitment of will – seeking God's kingdom and righteousness.
b) repentance of sins
c) Forgiveness of others
d) Faith.
 
8.           The three requirements of the Christian life are:
          a) belief in the Kingdom as the sovereign and righteous rule of God in a    redeemed society.
          b) The true search for the Kingdom of God by all who wish to be a part of it.
c)           To observe the conditions of entry to the Kingdom by all who have carried out the will of God
 
9.Eschatology means what happens at the end of human history and then beyond it.
10. Moses permitted divorce because of man's  hardness of heart.
